Privacy Policy
Pixy Mood Tracker is built and run by one person. This policy explains what the app and the website pixy.day do with your data.
In short
- Your entries, moods, emotions, sleep, notes, tags, people and settings stay on your device.
- I never see your entries and I never sell your data.
- Usage data is optional and never includes your entries. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland it is off until you opt in. You can turn it off at any time.
- Usage data and error reports are stored in the EU (Frankfurt).
- The app has no ads.

Data that stays on your device
Entries (ratings, emotions, sleep, notes, photos, places), tags, people, reminder times and settings are stored on your device only. I do not receive them. They leave your device only when you export them or send them to me as feedback. Sleep read from Apple Health stays on your device. To show the name of a place, the app asks Apple or Google for the place at your location. Delete everything on your device at any time with Settings > Data > Delete All My Data.
Usage data
Usage data shows me which features are used and what to fix next. It is sent to PostHog and stored in PostHog's EU Cloud in Frankfurt, Germany. App versions before 1.105.0 send it to PostHog's US Cloud.
- What is sent: events such as "entry saved" or "screen opened", with counts, lengths and yes/no values (for example the number of tags on an entry, or whether a rating was set). Every event also carries your color scale, whether a reminder is on, and which logging steps are active. PostHog adds technical data such as app version, operating system, device model, language, and the country. PostHog derives the country from the IP address and does not store the IP address.
- What is never sent: your ratings, emotions, sleep, Apple Health data, notes, tags, people, places, photos, or any text you type.
- Identifier: a random ID stored on your device. It is not linked to your name, email or any account. Resetting your data in the app creates a new ID. Feedback uses a separate random ID, so feedback cannot be matched to usage data.
- Startup metrics: with usage data on, the app also sends app start and performance metrics to Expo (Expo Observe).
Your choice
- EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, and when the region is unknown: usage data is off. On the last onboarding screen you choose "Share" or "Don't share". Both buttons look the same. Without your choice, nothing is sent. The app stores the time of your choice on your device.
- All other regions: usage data is on from the start. The last onboarding screen tells you how to turn it off.
- Before onboarding ends: the app makes no request to PostHog in any region.
- Change it any time: Settings > Privacy > Behavioral Data. Turning it off stops sending immediately. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier processing.
Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) where consent is requested. Elsewhere, my legitimate interest in improving the app (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), which you can object to by turning usage data off.
Error reports
If the app crashes or hits an error, it sends an error report to Sentry, stored in Sentry's EU region in Frankfurt, Germany (app versions before 1.105.0: US region). The report can include your device model, operating system version, app version, the time of the error, and the technical details of the error (Log Data). It does not include your entries. Before sending, the app removes console messages, user IDs and link parameters from the report, and Sentry does not store IP addresses. Error reports are sent regardless of the usage data setting. Legal basis: my legitimate interest in keeping the app stable (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Feedback you send
If you send feedback, rate a statistics card with a comment, or answer a question in the app, the text you write is sent to me. Your email address is sent only if you enter it. I use it to reply and to improve the app. Each submission also carries a random feedback ID, your language, the app version and the operating system, so I can tell submissions from the same device apart and reproduce problems. The feedback ID is separate from the usage data ID.
Current app versions send submissions to pixy.day (hosted on Vercel), which stores them in a private Google Sheet. Older app versions send them through a form service (Pipedream). I delete submissions when they are no longer needed. To have yours deleted, email care@pixy.day.
Support Pixy (purchases)
If you support the app through an in-app purchase, the purchase runs through Superwall and the App Store or Google Play. They process purchase data under their own policies. I do not see your payment details.
Website pixy.day
The website uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to measure visits, download button clicks and page performance. These tools use no cookies and collect no personal data. The website is hosted on Vercel.
The server also counts page loads in PostHog (EU Cloud, Frankfurt): the page, the website that linked to it (domain only), campaign tags in the link, and the device type (iPhone, Android or desktop). It sets no cookies, stores no IP address or location, and cannot tell visitors apart. Legal basis: my legitimate interest in knowing where visitors come from (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Service providers
These providers process data on my behalf or provide platform services. PostHog and Sentry store data in the EU. Some providers are located in the United States, so data can be transferred there. I rely on the providers' own safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
